Reversing Diabetes

How are you managing your diabetes? Most diabetics are taught that taking medications and cutting back on carbs is the best way to control blood sugar. But is that really true? What if you could address the factors causing your diabetes in the first place?

We’ve successfully coached diabetics who were able to reverse their diabetes, get off their medications and become non-diabetic. How? By focusing on reducing insulin resistance. Every cell in your body needs sugar for energy, and insulin is like a key that opens a door in your cells through which sugar can enter. The problem with type two diabetes is that the door doesn’t open even when insulin is present. Since sugar can’t enter your cells, it stays in the blood, giving you high blood sugar.

When you change your diet to improve insulin sensitivity, insulin begins working again like it’s supposed to, blood sugar normalizes and diabetes goes away. Cutting carbs or injecting insulin, on the other hand, does not improve insulin sensitivity.

 

Reopening Clogged Blood Vessels

Diseases resulting from blocked blood vessels, such as heart attacks and strokes, are our nation’s biggest killers. These diseases occur due to the gradual clogging and hardening of our blood vessels throughout our lives. The primary cause of this disease is diet, not genetics.

If you have high blood pressure, this is often an indication that your blood vessels have already begun to harden due to plaque accumulation on the inside walls of your arteries. Taking blood pressure pills does not remove the plaque, nor does it stop the blockages from continuing to get worse.

Cholesterol medications don’t save many lives. In fact, studies show that for every 83 patients WITH known heart disease that take statin medications for 5 years, only ONE life is saved. For patients WITHOUT known heart disease, statins don’t save any lives at all. Yet statins can cause muscle damage in 10% of patients, and can increase the risk of developing diabetes.

Invasive procedures such as angioplasty, stenting, and bypass surgery are risky and can lead to kidney failure, stroke, or death. Stenting has not been shown to prevent future heart attacks, and about 1 in 4 patients undergoing bypass surgery get ministrokes from the procedure resulting in cognitive decline. After these procedures are performed, it is common for stents or bypasses to develop blockages of their own.

The only way to successfully reverse heart disease and naturally reopen clogged arteries is to make significant changes to your diet. Eating right is much more powerful than drugs. Rather than “reducing your risk” or “slowing the progression” of heart disease, you can actually change the course of the disease such that plaque begins clearing from your arteries instead of continuing to be deposited, such that you essentially become heart attack proof.
