In the Produce section at grocery stores I first check for sales on 1) packaged greens (Spring Mix, Spinach…) often finding some reduced due to it being near the sale date, 2) salad kits. At Acme this week the Fresh Express Chopped Kit bags were on sale for 2/$5; so $2.50 rather than $3.99. The bag says servings for 3.5, but for me it’s 1 serving — a big side salad w added fruits or vegetables, or a meal w added vegetables, grains and/or beans. I throw away the kit’s dressing and most of its additional toppings. Example: the Sweet Kale Chopped Kit had cabbage, kale, broccoli, shredded brussels sprouts and radicchio. Delicious, crunchy and ready to eat; Very good bargain and no waste that I might have if I purchased just the vegetables — when I am buying for 1.
